Jummah Bazaar means ‘Friday Market’ in Farsi. In Afghanistan, Friday is the day of gathering, the day the public market opens and a neighborhood fills its baskets, drinks tea, and catches up.
We’ve carried that Friday feeling into Springfield for over twenty-five years. Specialty groceries that are hard to find anywhere else. Halal meat butchered fresh by expert butchers. Bread out of the oven by lunchtime. And a kettle that’s usually on, if you have a minute.
Read the long version ,Our family also makes Jummah Foods, a small line of premium Afghan frozen comfort food. Hand-folded Mantu (beef dumplings) and Aushak (herb dumplings), in two heritage flavors. Available right here at the bazaar, in our freezer aisle.
Looking to stock your own freezer at home? Visit the sister site to learn more about the dumplings, the long table, and the way we like to gather.
Afghan culture is intimately tied to hospitality. As a guest of Jummah Bazaar, our motivation is simple: that you find what you came for, and that you feel at home while you do.
